Her diverse professional experience spans different positions within the university and nonprofit sectors, in the USA and Canada. Her curiosity sees her learning to juggle, perfecting the butterfly stroke and improving her Français (while maintaining her Cantonese and English tongues).

Dr. Joy Adams-O’Brien is an Associate Director of Design at Emeritus. She works remotely from her home near Boulder, Colorado, designing online executive education courses in partnership with faculty from elite universities. Owing to the transferable skills she developed as a geographer, Joy’s winding career path has spanned the business, government, nonprofit, and academic sectors, and she believes her training in geography has uniquely equipped her for success as an e-learning instructional designer. In addition to her full-time job, Joy is an adjunct instructor in the University of Maryland’s Department of Geographical Sciences.
