AAG membership opens up opportunities within an active community of scholars, educators and practitioners to meet and network with other geographers and related professionals; to learn about new approaches, methods, and techniques; to develop professional skills towards career advancement; to keep current geographic research specialties; and to apply for special grants to support research, fieldwork and teaching.

If you’re not quite ready to commit to a full membership, consider registering as an AAG Explorer. This provides limited access to select resources and tools to help newcomers get a sense for what a full AAG membership has to offer.

Developing Regions membership program

The AAG has long advocated interacting with and providing support to geographers and other colleagues from developing regions of the world. In this spirit we have established the Developing Regions Membership Program. Geographers, professionals, and students in related disciplines who reside in an eligible country and have an annual income of less than US $25,000, may join the AAG at a deeply discounted rate.

Those who join through this program receive the full range of benefits of AAG membership, with the exception that AAG publications are provided in digital online format only.
